In the first video from CSINY the director used this technique because he wanted the viewer to be the eyes of the mysterious person on the other side of the street, and the zoom out technique is accomplishing this. 

In the second video from &quot;Panic Room&quot; the different levels of the house play a significant role in the movie. The tracking on dolly technique has been used throughout, so that the viewer can see the levels of the house, and the director wanted to “walk us around”.  This type of shot was used to visualize the characters in the act of “panic” and the upcoming danger.</description>
